About Us

Hi! we’re sarah and eric.

We are a photographer couple based in Madison, Wisconsin. We’re photographers because we truly believe that you, as a human being, have a story and should have documentation of the life you’re living. Why? Because you matter. From the extraordinary moments to the every-day, in between, meal making and laundry folding ones. We are firm believers that pictures help us remember the history of our lives, and unless you have a stellar memory- there are too many things that slip through the cracks in our brains and are completely forgotten about until you see the photo that brings it all flooding back.

Want to know more about us?

Alright. Here it goes. We met in high school, in chemistry class to be exact. Our first date was prom. We got married in 2010 after 5 years of long distance dating (with one summer being camp counselors together). Sarah photographed her first wedding in 2010, and Eric started shooting with her in 2011. In 2016, our daughter Elsie was born, and in 2021 came our daughter Alice. The four of us (and our cat, Basil) live in Madison, Wisconsin and we love it. Our house is filled with mostly things that are older than the both of us combined- partly thanks to Sarah’s grandparents having great taste, and also thanks to her love of thrifting. We’re big into communal meals, spontaneous hangs, well made cocktails, lazy mornings, exploring new places, spending time on the water in our kayak, staying up hours later than we said we would because of great conversation, wild-food foraging, plant identification, really good coffee, really good food, and perfect cups of tea.

What we say about each other:

Eric says:

1. Sarah has a (manageable) obsession with children’s books. She loves sourcing, reading, and thinking about children’s books, so much so she made an instagram devoted to it.

2. She hoards vintage fabric even though she only kind of knows how to sew.

3. She loves coffee, and espresso, but most days she drinks tea full-blown english style, with the biscuits and everything.

4. Sarah’s sense of direction is scarily good, like if she were a superhero her name would be “Wayfinder” or “The human compass.” I on the other hand am having a good day if I can actually find my way out of ikea. (I can’t)

5. Sarah makes really awesome stovetop popcorn. She pretends she can’t however because then I’ll be the one that makes it all the time. This is the single greatest point of contention in our marriage.

Sarah says:

1. Eric is a crazy good cook and all of his friends and family VERY much appreciate this about him.

2. He’s a nerd. As in, he enjoys nerding out about whatever topic he’s currently into.

3. He’s the lead designer and art director at the Field Day Lab at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. They make educational video games for kids. It’s a really cool gig.

4. Eric’s pretty into native plant identification. He’s the one you’d want with you if you’re lost in the woods for a few days. He probably couldn’t help you find your way out of the woods however.

5. Eric is lying, his popcorn is way better.

We’d love to chat with you, kind stranger.
