Matt & Ashley's Wedding in the Redwoods
Matt was the first one to scope out the Sequoia Redwood Center in California, as Ashley was still living in New York while the two were trying to find a venue somewhere outside of San Francisco. After Matt told her about the site, the image of getting married among the grandeur of redwood trees was enough to convince her it'd be a perfect spot, even without seeing it herself. So, it wasn't until Ashley got to take some time to go visit the center with her Mom a few weeks later that her Mom realized where they were. The place she was to be married was right down the road from the house Ashley spent some of her first few years of life.Weddings are reunions of sorts. Reconnecting with friends and family under the mighty sequoias is magical enough, but this place had also been Ashley’s home. Friends and family flew in from all over the world, and many of them stayed on the grounds for the whole weekend, taking advantage of having the time to catch up with old friends, and meet many new ones.Matt and Ashley's wedding was surrounded by love: in the form of poetry, decorating, laughing, Italian food, dancing, and officiated by a friend who bursts at the seems with it for these two. There was a caricaturist, a dude of honor (Ashley's brother), bottles of all sorts of tasty beverages, table settings depicting different places Matt and Ashely hold dear to their hearts (as they met in Italy), and paper flags brought over from Mexico. So many of their guests made the day special in some way or another, and it was a privilege to get to meet so many wonderful people. These two told us from the start that their wedding day was going to be all sorts of awesome, and it the truest sense of the word, it really was.
