A peek back at 2012
I originally wasn't going to do a year-in-review post since I quit my 365 project for 2012 a couple months early. I got as far as the end of August and just got sick of it. I don't feel bad about it, I don't wish I would have stuck it out and kept going, but I really do love looking back at those daily photos from the rest of the year, all in order and organized nicely. It was nice to take off the pressure of needing a photo every single day. For Christmas Eric made a book for me from Blurb of my year in photos, from 2011. It was something I kept meaning to do, but never got around to it. Seeing that year in photos has motivated us to embark on yet another 365. So yet again, I'm going to be that girl that is always taking pictures, even of the most mundane things. Sometimes because I have to in order to complete a goal, and other times because everything is just right, or there's a whole day I know I'll remember 2 years later because of this one moment I'm going to capture. Eric's joining me this year on the project. We'll see how it works out, at first we were going to make diptychs of everyday, but that seems a bit too ambitious. For now we're both taking a photo everyday, I'm trying to post mine over on flickr, and Eric will probably pop over here to share what he's been seeing lately. Hopefully we'll make it the whole year, we'll see.Even though there wasn't a daily photo from 2012, I'm still going to share some of my favorite images here.
Every year when I find myself going through photos looking for favorites I realize it's not always the perfectly lit or composed pictures that I love so much, it's the ones that captured exactly what was happening in our lives at that moment. 2012 was a great year for us. We moved to a larger apartment (sadly saying goodbye to that glorious light in our old kitchen- man do I miss it), we took numerous trips to Door County & Chicago, I visited Stacy in Las Vegas. We had chickens for a while (okay they weren't ours but they were at our house!), we got another kitty. We camped among Redwoods and found THE perfect croissant in Monterey, CA (go here if you're ever in that area), we blasted the AC for two months straight- or so it seems, we made new friends, visited family all over the place, celebrated our two year anniversary, and booked some exciting sessions for 2013. I can't wait to see what this year holds, I'm thinking it's going to be even better than the last.
